| Fan Use and Benifits in Horticulture:
Greenhouse climates are never constant; there are always local differences. These differences in temperature, relative humidity and
CO2 is not beneficial for plants. Research has proven that increased air circulation will lessen the chance of humidity pockets and reduce the horizontal and vertical temperature differences.
Re-circulation type fans ensure that a constant climate is maintained
throughout the greenhouse. Re-circulation also has a beneficial influence on disease control by preventing stagnant climates from occurring within the greenhouse. The movement of the air allows the leaves to easily transpire.
Serial and Parallel Type Ventilation:
These Plant-Air Circulation fans are the perfect solution for both variable speed controlled ventilation and parallel ventilation in greenhouses that require large volumes of air. Depending on the demand for horizontal airflow, the Plant-Air Circulation fan gives the option to select a higher or lower speed for the greenhouse fans, using a variable speed control. In situations with little ventilation, strong winds or when spraying chemicals, you may select the highest fan speed to achieve a uniform greenhouse climate and increased air movement. In situations with active exhaust fans, no wind or open top vents, you can use a lower fan speed and save money on electricity.
Serial Ventilation is created when the fans are positioned near both end walls and directed in alternate rows, toward the centre walkway, creating an s-shaped airflow pattern. This is particularly well suited for creating air temperature and CO2 uniformity. Serial ventilation allows the airflow to be maintained at a constant and controlled level. The speed of the fan can be controlled automatically or manually depending on the equipment and software that is installed.
Parallel Ventilation occurs when the fans are positioned along the centre walkway and directed toward the end walls. This is well suited for effective distribution of low volume pesticides.
