Ventilation System In The Warehouse

Industrial The Workplace

In order to maintain high quality air in any warehouse or industrial setting, proper ventilation is crucial. In general terms, ventilation is a method of controlling an indoor air environment with air flow. OSHA has set federal standards for indoor air quality in industrial work settings and several states have adopted their own air quality standards, which, in most cases, are very similar to the ones made mandatory by OSHA.

So what exactly does ventilation do, aside from controlling an indoor environment? Specifically, it can help cool an indoor environment, notably a warehouse, which have a tendency to get very hot due to the high concentration and type of materials that are stored in them. The challenge of installing a central cooling system to control the climate of a large area is an obstacle in warehouses. On the flip side, warehouses can also get very cold in the winter. That’s where the likes of ceiling fans as a ventilation solution come into play. Hot air rises, so ceiling fans work to push the hot air down to the work floor in the winter, thereby helping the temperature rise. And in the summer, they help with the circulation of air to cool the environment. It’s why ceiling fan(s) are among the most simple, and best, solutions for ventilation.

Exhaust fans are another option for warehouses, particularly ones that handle materials that could contaminate the air. Exhaust fans work by drawing air – and any contaminants that are in it – out of a given facility (think of a bathroom exhaust fan that draws humidity and moisture out of the air, as this is the most basic type of exhaust fan). Exhaust fans get rid of the bad air and help populate the area with good air, thereby improving the overall quality of air in the facility.

So what is your facility doing to ensure workers are staying safe on the job? What ventilation equipment do you have in place?
