All variable speed fans will run at a single speed unless used with a controller. Please see our control options here for a control that pairs with this fan.

The Canarm AX series exhaust fans are a sturdily constructed, direct drive, horizontal discharge fan that is typically used for general ventilation of factories, garages, warehouses and other industrial or commercial buildings. The AX fans are available in multiple single-speed variations as well as two-speed and variable speed models. The AX series housings are constructed of heavy duty aluminum with built in shutters that automatically open when the fan starts and gravity closes when the fan stops.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • In the product details it appears the rough wall opening needs to be 17.75" sq, but in the specs its states its is 20.75" sq. Also , it states EF mounts on inside wall. Here is what I have, please indicate which fan will fit the best. I am replacing an existing louvered exhaust fan. The existing wall opening is 20.75" sq. The wall is an 8" block wall with brick veneer, so about 12" thick. I want the new fan shutters to completely cover the hole on the outside of the wall. Inside of the wall does not matter, because it is an equipment room. I would prefer to just remove the old entire fan/shutter assembly, and slide the new fan thru the hole from the outside and screw it off into the brick. Please recommend which of you products will do this. I can frame the inside of the rough opening with 1x12, or 2x12, if necessary leaving a rough opening of 19.25" or or 17.75 respectively, if required. Please advise. Thanks You may call me at 865-679-2205 if this would be easier to discuss by phone.

Thank you for your question.  Here is a link to the manufacturers spec sheet on for the fan.  It appears as though the shuttered, outward facing dimension of the fan housing is 17 3/4", and the mounting flange is 20 3/4".  The installation guide (also linked below), says that you should be 1/2" larger than the shutter box size (allowing 1/4" on all sides for clearance).  These fans are meant to be installed from the inside of the building, with the flange on the interior side of the hole.
